“The arts are fundamental resources through which the world is viewed, meaning is created, and the mind developed.”

Mission and Philosophy

At Clementine, we believe that ART = creativity, imagination, self-expression and healthy child development.

We know that high-quality, continuing ART experiences are vital for the holistic development of children: mind, body and spirit.

We offer high quality arts enrichment programs that allow your child unique and valuable development opportunities. Clementine provides developmentally appropriate art classes — classes designed to meet the visual, social, emotional, cognitive and expressive needs of your child at her/his age and ability level.

Process Art

At Clementine, we value the creative PROCESS for children in addition to the products they create. We believe that children learn and develop in incredible ways through the process of working on an art project. We give children inspiring spaces, exciting materials, small classes and excellent teaching to help bring their visions to life.

Choices

Clementine’s child centered curriculum provides children with opportunities to follow their interests, work at their own pace and create in their own way. Over time, this rich and complex program develops creativity, imagination and problem-solving abilities in your child.

Excellent Teaching

Clementine teachers are highly trained in their craft. Teachers create a safe and nurturing environment that elicits each child’s creative instincts. Children receive lots of one-on-one attention and support toward their creative goals and visions.

Exciting Media and Materials

At Clementine, children work with traditional and unique tools, vibrant colors, and a wide variety of inspiring media. Watercolor, tempera and acrylic paint, clay, collage materials, papier-mâché, fabric, and a variety of sculptural elements are the foundation and the sky’s the limit!

Small Classes

At Clementine, classes are designed to allow your child to be independent in a supportive, nurturing environment. We believe that one teacher for every six children allows children the space they need to independently and confidently explore materials, while providing lots of one-on-one attention and interaction with teachers.

Inspiring Spaces

Our cheerful studio offers a sunny, colorful and inspiring place for children to create. We don’t worry about paint on the walls or floor — instead, we create an environment of exploration; where experimentation and discovery are encouraged.

Food for Thought
(Excerpt from Colorado Alliance for Arts Education [CAAE} website)

Creativity is fashionably conceived as the engine for innovation and new ideas, but just as important is artistic creativity’s links to emotions and feelings; artistic creativity is as much about AFFECT as it is about COGNITION.

Creative thinking that results in problem solving can be fostered through education in the arts,

There is research (Howard Gardner’s work on multiple intelligences at Harvard University) that shows that education in the arts has the capacity to provide additional pathways or avenues for student achievement.

There is also research (Shirley Brice Heath’s work on ArtShow at Stanford University) demonstrating that young people enrolled in sports/academic, community service, and arts programs do better in school and in their personal lives than young people from similar socio-economic backgrounds not in such programs. Heath’s research indicates that those enrolled in arts programs did the best.

The arts, cultural, and intellectual property sectors of the U.S. and other economies are enormous and growing at rates faster than the economies as a whole. All of the skills realized through ongoing learning through and participation in the arts will help America’s workforce remain competitive in an increasingly knowledge-based and global economy.
